Top down souls-esque ARPG dramatizing the Ancient Roman conflict with Gaul. Featuring slings, sheep rustling, chariots, and crucifixions.

This is a very rough early prototype to test basic gameplay/combat and quest mechanics.

List of currently incomplete features:

  • Magic
  • Merchant/blacksmith
  • Weapon upgrades
  • Damage scaling (currently broken)
  • Mounted ranged combat

** KNOWN BUG: if the cursor locks up, either when your Inventory or Save Game UI is open, please press MOUSE2 to unlock the cursor. **

gamedev is forever. no matter how hard we try, we'll always come back to it.

with that, i'm glad to see you've made your return as well, and i was very surprised to see this pop up on my feed. i gave it a quick look and stopped after 15 or so minutes, and for a prototype it was surprisingly charming.

here's some of my thoughts:

>some sounds (notably arrows being fired) have a giant radius

>saving worked but gave no indication. just a "save successful" message would suffice

>prompts (such as Press E or Stealth kill) remain despite no longer being allowed

>combat feels weird because the player attacks forward instead of the mouse direction, which makes orienting oneself to face an enemy and attack a messy ordeal

everything else can be written off as "it's a prototype, it'll get fixed later"

i hope i will see more of your work and progress soon. stop by aggy sometimes, we miss you!

thank you so much for the swift feedback osur! what a pleasure to hear from you & thank you for playing ^__^

regarding the combat, the game is built around a dark souls style lock-on feature, activated with TAB - were you using it? if not, i can see how wonky it could be to try to aim.

and thank you for noticing the other points. i'll add them all to my list!

gamedev is indeed forever, the most herculean of pursuits. this was a new project i created in the last month or so in attempt to right many of the ground-up design mistakes i made with samsara. i will be back in the thread and probably submitting this prototype to demo day for the heck of it

hope you are well and very much look forward to trying the latest build of kalemonvo! i still owe you a stream...

the orbs march ever onward

> lock-on feature
didn't know of it, i'm dumb.

DD is tomorrow(!!!) so i'm eager to see you submit - i'm sure many other anons are too, they just don't know it yet.
i won't be joining this one, so the stream will have to wait for another day :)

best of luck both in DD and in development. keep it up.
